CRISTIANO RONALDO BECAME the first player in history to score a hat-trick in the Club World Cup final as Real Madrid won the title after extra-time.
Japan’s Kashima Antlers looked like they were going to shock the Spanish Giants until Ronaldo found the back of the net from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 and force extra-time.
Karim Benzema gave Madrid the lead after nine minutes, but Gaku Shibasaki scored either side of half-time as the Japanese side looked like they might cause a massive upset.

Ronaldo stepped up to the mark after Lucas Vazquez was fouled in the area, forcing extra-time and scoring twice in the additional 30 minutes.
The 31-year-old put Zinedine Zidane’s side in front with a left-footed finish after being released by Karim Benzema in the 98th minute. He then completed his hat-trick, firing into the roof of the goal.
This means he’s the joint-highest scorer in the competition’s history with five goals, and it was also his 40th Real Madrid hat-trick.
