There was better news, however, for the other high-profile injury victims in the game with Peter O’Mahony and Dave Kilcoyne — both of whom suffered dead legs — expected to return to full training this week.
They will also be joined by Keith Earls who tweaked his back in the bruising encounter.
The province also issued positive updates on Francis Saili — who featured for two minutes at the weekend — and Ian Keatley whose knee injury has recovered to the extent that he can take some part in training this week.
However, there was bad news for academy out-half Bill Johnston who fractured his fibula in Friday night’s B&I Cup semi-final win against Ealing Trailfinders.
