An Irishman abroad: Cillian Sheridan completes move to APOEL Nicosia

The Cavan striker has joined the Cypriot champions from Kilmarnock.

IRELAND INTERNATIONAL Cillian Sheridan has signed for Cypriot champions APOEL Nicosia for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old Cavan native leaves Kilmarnock, where he scored 10 goals in 29 appearances last season, after agreeing a one-year deal with APOEL – who are managed by former Hearts manager Paolo Sergio.

Sheridan joined Celtic from schoolboy club Belvedere in 2006 and went on to enjoy loans spells with Motherwell, Plymouth Argyle and St Johnstone before departing for CSKA Sofia in 2010.

He will have the chance to test himself in the Champions League with his new club and tweeted:
