Video: Ciarán Lyng lobs Tipperary keeper with Mikey Sheehy style free

It was a brief moment of joy in a season of disappointment for Wexford’s footballers.

WEXFORD BEAT TIPPERARY by three points this weekend, a win that wasn’t enough to prevent them finishing bottom of Division Three of the National Football League.

However, this audacious chip from Ciarán Lyng is one for his own personal highlight reel and brings to mind the infamous quick-thinking of Kerry’s Mikey Sheehy when he lobbed Dublin’s Paddy Cullen in the 1978 All-Ireland final.

As Tipperary goalkeeper Colum Nugent came off his line to issue orders to his defenders, Lyng tapped the free quickly and Nugent could only watch it sail over his head into the back of the net.
