Christian Eriksen set for Tottenham switch

Daniel Levy has a wedge of cash burning a hole in his pockets.

TOTTENHAM ARE CLOSE to sealing the signature of Christian Eriksen, after agreeing a deal with Ajax for the Denmark playmaker.

The Premier League club have been active in the transfer market so far, signing Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli, Paulinho and Etienne Capoue, also agreeing a deal with Roma for Argentina international Erik Lamela.

Their expenditure is likely to be off-set by the departure of Gareth Bale, who is expected to complete a world-record move to Real Madrid. Eriksen had previously been linked to Liverpool and UEFA Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund, but he is now on the brink of a switch to White Hart Lane, upon the passing of a medical and agreeing personal terms.

Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars confirmed that a deal had been struck for Eriksen, but retains hope of keeping the player — whose contract expires at the end of the season.

“Yes, (Spurs chairman, Daniel) Levy was here and Eriksen has been given permission to speak to Tottenham,” Overmars told De Telegraaf.

“There is no agreement yet until it’s signed. Obviously, if it happens, we won’t be happy at all to lose him but he only has a year left on his contract.”

I don’t know why United haven’t jumped in for this player before. He’ll be Spurs’ signing of the summer

Spurs are better off without Bale for the players they brought in, 6 players for the price of 1

As a spurs fan I’m delighted with levy this summer. He has signed real quality players. Hopefully tottenham can mount a serious challenge for league honours this season and many more!

Decent player, great price aswell. Spurs could well be in with a shout of winning the league if all these players click. I just wish Liverpool had owners and a chairman like spurs have. More than arsenal need to be worried. All their transfer activity just confirms Liverpool have no chance of champions league football for a few years. Well done levy and spurs owners for having the balls to run it like a football club and actually spend the bale money.

My thoughts as well, given that there are a few ex arsenal players on the staff at Ajax surely they’d have tipped them off to make a bid, especially since Spurs are the team in for him
