AMERICA’S CHRISTIAN COLEMAN lit up last night’s Diamond League meet in Brussels with a blistering run in the men’s 100m final.
Coleman, 22, clocked a winning time of 9.79 — making him the seventh-fastest man ever over the distance.
The time is also the fastest on record in more than three years since Usain Bolt won World Championship gold, also in 9.79, in August 2015.
Ronnie Baker (9.93) and Yohan Blake (9.94) took silver and bronze respectively.

The drugs are back so
@Jonathan Nolan: fact…2020 isn’t that far away now!
No one is getting near Bolts records of 9.58 anytime soon. Hard to see anyone getting into the 9.60s which he used to do easily enough.He used to do 9.79 while easing up.. And the drugs – well that’s something that we are just going to have to make peace with.
There was a 12 mins 43 secs 5000 Mtrs at the same track last night. 18/19 year old Ethiopian I think.
@John A. Dixon: serious performance.
Still makes me laugh to this day that people think Bolt was clean. Just that good he beat everyone else on PEDS? Yeah right
@Eric Djemba-Djemba: he was freakishly fast as a teenager, peaked in his early to mid 20s, then got slower… If Jesse Owens wasn’t running on sand/Ash while in crap shoes during the 1930′s they think he’d be as fast. It is possible to be fast while drug free. Just because there are so many cheats, it doesn’t mean natural athletes can’t do amazing things
The mention of PED’s every time someone turns in a decent performance is getting tiresome. If they’re taking drugs they’ll be caught – does no one think Coleman was tested after the race?
@Stephen Keane: Athletes dope out of season and never in competition – unless they are completely stupid. Micro dosing/ blood doping allows them to train harder and recover more quickly. They should be clean by the time the athletics season rolls around.
