Chris Hughton has his eye on a couple of these managerial vacancies

Former Ireland international linked with Brighton job.

CHRIS HUGHTON COULD be set to return to management in the new year.

The former Ireland international has been out of work since April when he was sacked by Norwich but has reportedly held talks with Championship strugglers Brighton.

West Brom are on the lookout for a new manager following their decision to dismiss Alan Irvine while one of Hughton’s former clubs, Newcastle United, could soon be in the market if Alan Pardew leaves for Crystal Palace as expected.

“It’s a very good club and one that has a tremendous infrastructure,” Hughton said of the Brighton job on BBC Radio on Tuesday.

“Anybody like myself that has been out for a while would be interested in that type of job.”

While he admitted that he would be tempted by a return to the Premier League with West Brom, Hughton appeared to rule out a second stint at St James’ Park where he was manager from 2008 to 2010.

“As a manager that wants to get back in, it is about getting in at the right place,” he said.
