Frenchman Cheick Kone proved too powerful for the Irish middleweight in Wolverhampton tonight.

IRELAND’S CHRIS FIELDS was hoping to edge closer to sealing a UFC deal with by impressing at the co-main event at BAMMA 18 tonight — but instead suffered a significant setback.

The SBG middleweight fought highly-rated Cheick Kone and lasted just 23 seconds on his first fight since June 2013 as the French striker claimed a first round TKO.

Commentators suggested the referee was giving Fields the benefit of the doubt but should he have intervened earlier?
