โA FEELING LIKE no otherโ is how Ireland U19 captain Chloe Mustaki described the experience of beating all three top seeds in the UEFA U19 European Championships.
Having come into the competition as eighth seeds, the โHistory Girlsโ as they are now affectionately known, produced three superb performances to take all nine points from a group containing Spain, England and Sweden.
For Mustaki, who plays her club football with Peamount United, the success is down to the strong team spirit.
โItโs really been truly amazing to have beaten the first three seeds in the competition,โ the defender said.
โWe came in as underdogs and have now proven to everybody how much of a right we have to win the competition just as much as any other team here.
โIt took a huge amount of effort from the whole squad but so far everybody has done their job and weโve definitely pulled through for one another to get to this point.
โIt certainly has been a dream come true to have been able to lead out the team to victory in three massive games against three big nations in womenโs football.โ

The semi-final against the Netherlands tomorrow (6pm Irish time) offers Mustaki and her team-mates the opportunity to further enhance their status as history-makers and the skipper is ready to put everything on the line in order to make the final.
โThe game against the Netherlands will be, without doubt, one of the toughest, if not the toughest, games of our lives.
As our manager Dave Connell says, โwe will go to warโ and hopefully our biggest efforts will get us through the game.
โTheyโre (the Netherlands) certainly a great footballing side so weโre going to require a solid game plan going into this semi final.โ
Having already played out a 0-0 draw with the Netherlands in the Elite qualifying stage earlier this year, and with Spain or Norway waiting for them in the final, glory is well within Irelandโs grasp.

First the Rugby girls now the Soccer girls. Theyโre putting us guys to shame. COYGIG
This is a way bigger achievement than anything the rugby girls have done, not too many countries have girls wanting to play rugby โฆ Best of luck tomorrow night girls
Is that an opinion or a statement of fact ?
Where can we watch it?
On the box???? Streamed anywhere ???
Eurosport have been showing most of the games as far as i know.
Go girls go
Sometimes what an economy needs to kickstart itself is a good ole warโฆ. Oh and I hope the girls win their football match too! Good luck
Go on ye girls in green!!!! The whole country is behind you, were so proud of all of you. Best of luck tomorrow.
Another bandwagon for people to jump on
I think you miss the whole point about sports,if it was only for the people who watched it from the start then there would be nobody watching any sport
What idiots โunlikeโ comments posted here ???? Some people just canโt wait to knock their own !!!!
Stop knocking their right to begrudge
Good for them but Iโd wish theyโd stop making it sound like war. Just a game.
Well done and best of luck !
Steven Pierce, you moron.
I think one of the eurosports are showing it
War is a very different thing to football.
The World Cup here in Brazil had a lot of pulling and hauling, slide tackles that really spoil the game and take the sport out of it.I would go for red cards to see good games and intelligent football.I think the GAA will also have to look again at their rules after seeing photos of the Dublin Meath game.
