Tiger Woods' niece Cheyenne roars into Spanish Open lead

The 22-year-old shot a superb round of 64 to lead the way after the first round.

TIGER WOODS IS currently putting himself into position for a weekend charge at The Open but he would do well to phone his young niece to ask for advice.

Cheyenne Woods, 22, is leading the way at the Spanish Open following a sterling opening round of 64. The Arizona native carded eight birdies and a solitary bogey to lead the way at the Ladies European Tour event.

She told the tour website, “I just played really steady. Everything clicked today so I felt great. Hopefully I can continue just part of that on Friday.”

Asked what she would do to relax after her storming round, Woods replied, “At 2:45 I think somebody is teeing off … so I’ll try and catch that.” Her uncle would be proud.
