TEA, JAFFA CAKES and orange segments are all common energy-boosters used in football, but usually at half-time and not during the game.
That wasn’t the case when Chester took on Barnsley in their FA Cup second round replay last night.

With Chester struggling to gain any momentum and trailing in the game, manager Steve Burr threw a packet of Jaffa Cakes onto the pitch. They were quickly snatched up by defender Gareth Roberts who indulged in a few before offering them around to his team-mates, the opposition and the referee.
In the end they didn’t make much difference however as Chester went on to lose the game 3-0.
Some of you may remember Rio Ferdinand also feasting on a few Jaffa Cakes on his return to football after an eight month ban in 2004.
The question still remains as to whether they are a biscuit or a cake but this is neither the time nor the place for the discussion.
