LONG-TERM FANS of the Championship/Football Manager series will undoubtedly be familiar with the name Cherno Samba.
If ever there was a footballer to whom Marlon Brandoโs famous โI coulda been a contenderโ speech in On the Waterfront applied, it was Samba.
He was a highly rated youngster in the game who ultimately never quite made it as a professional footballer in real life, despite forming a key part of plenty of fantasy teams.
However, the gameโs makers werenโt the only ones to tip him for greatness โ as the video below illustrates, Samba was once attracting the interest of several big clubs while at Millwall.
By the time of the clip in question though, his career was already on the slide, as he attempted to resurrect it at Plymouth Argyle.
Unfortunately, he made little progress at Plymouth, and was let go ultimately. After subsequently having brief spells at Haka, Panetolikos and FK Tรธnsberg, the 27-year-old is now a free agent.

Championship Manager 97/98โฆ Mark Emmers on a Free! Be it Barcelona or Brighton, he was a must have!
The only player to fulfil his CM potential was Kim Kallstrom though, when they switched to Football Manager the predictions went much better. Sturridge etc. (Also, personal triumph, getting Rooney top opt for Ireland instead of England in FM2001!
But it all comes back to Prem Manager 2: 1993 season:
Chris Bartwilliamsโฆ The Ultimate striker!
Supat Rungratsamee! He was ace. 30 goals in a season!
He was no maxim tsigalko
Goal machine
Is this game worth buying? I bought championship manager for laptop years ago
It all dependsโฆ Do you like leaving the house?
Remember CHAMP used to reincarnate players. Out of Liberia would spring a striker with amazing stats very similar to that of George Weah and so on. #TommySvindalLarson #KennedyBakiricoglu
Richard Sadlier was on the Second Captains podcast a few weeks ago saying Samba was believing his own hype at the age of 16, more focused on how many hits his website was getting a week than his actual game. The Champ Manager stats canโt have helped in reining in his ego.
Richie saddler is one to talk living off a washed up footie career.. Heโd say anytk to get a few lines in a paper
Deegan used to call into Eddies when he wasnt there and spend 5 hours playing Champ @andrewdeegan
