But that’s what happened Ben Major – a former college player himself – who had his face cut open by the boot of Montreal Alouettes linebacker Kyries Hebert.

The collision – seemingly accidental – happened as Hebert was being blocked by Curtis Steele of the Toronto Argonauts.
Fortunately for Major and all concerned, the veteran official did not suffer concussion and was able to officiate the entire second half but we still think the hit might leave a mark.
