PEP GUARDIOLA’S PERFECT start to life at Manchester City is over after Celtic claimed a deserved point at Parkhead this evening.
Brendan Rodgers’ side took the lead on three different occasions, but never held the lead for longer than eight minutes at any point in the 3-3 draw.
Moussa Dembele scored twice, with a Raheem Sterling own goal in-between, while Fernandinho, Sterling scoring in the right end this time, and Nolito responded for the visitors.
Celtic took the lead after just three minutes after Dembele directed Erik Sviatchenko’s effort past Claudio Bravo.
City responded quickly through Fernandinho, after he controlled Aleksandar Kolarov’s wayward shot eight minutes later, to get Guardiola’s side back on level terms.
Rodgers’ side however showed they were more than capable of competing at this level, but were rather fortunate to retake the lead after Sterling directed Kieran Tierney’s cross into his own net.
The England attacker atoned his error on 28 minutes, by showing composure and a lovely change of direction to fire past Craig Gordon to make it 2-2 at the break.
However, Noltio ensured Manchester City maintained their unbeaten start to the season, if not their winning streak, after the Spanish international pounced in the box, after Craig Gordon could only parry Sergio Aguero’s initial shot.
