CAVAN NARROWLY DEFEATED Roscommon 0-14 to 1-8 in the Allianz League Division 3 encounter in Breffni Park today.
A Senan Kilbride goal put Roscommon ahead after the sides scored 0-3 apiece early on.
Cavan recovered well though, as points from Damien O’Reilly, Niall McDermott and Martin Dunne helped them establish a 0-8 to 1-3 lead.
Roscommon’s woe was then exacerbated close to half time, when Ian Kilbride received a straight red card.
Despite having a player less, Roscommon fought valiantly in the second half, with points from Kevin Higgins and Donal Shine giving them hope.
Nevertheless, some more well-taken scores from frees courtesy of McDermott ensured his side secured a hard-earned victory.
