Terry Hyland saw his Cavan team continue their unbeaten record in Division 3 of the Allianz football league this afternoon in Tullamore. Cavan exploded from the starting blocks and were in front by 0-6 to 0-0 after 22 minutes with Martin Dunne notching some quality points.
Niall McNamee helped get Offaly off the mark but they still trailed by 0-9 to 0-5 at half-time. Crucially Cavan started the second-half brightly with striking a point before then firing home the only goal of the game in the 48th minute.

Cavan were seven points clear at that juncture and they closed out the game successfully to follow up last week’s victory over Fermanagh. But Offaly face into the three-week break with no points to their name after also losing out to Wexford last Sunday.
Limerick 2-11
Longford 0-11
Limerick bounced back from last week’s loss to Sligo to pick up the points on offer this afternoon at the Gaelic Grounds with a six-point win over Longford. Limerick started well and settled to lead by 0-4 to 0-1 after 10 minutes. Key attackers Ger Collins and Ian Ryan were both on target with points to send them 0-9 to 0-3 clear by half-time.
Longford cut the gap to three points thanks to scores after the interval by Peter Foy, Sean McCormack and Brian Farrell. But then Collins hit the net for Limerick in the 48th minute before the same player was fouled nine minutes later and captain Seanie Buckley slammed home the resultant penalty.
That left John Brudair’s Limerick team in front by 2-10 to 0-7 and while Francis McGee and Michael Quinn did tack on late points for Longford, it was Limerick who eventually claimed the spoils by six points.
Roscommon 1-16
Wexford 1-9
John Evans saw his Roscommon charges win their second successive game in Division 3 this afternoon in Kiltoom. The home side had seven points to spare over Wexford as they continued their strong start to the spring campaign.
Roscommon laid the foundations for their win in the first-half as they went 1-8 to 1-3 clear at the break. Wexford cut the gap to four points in the finale but Cathal Cregg was amongst the scorers as Roscommon hit three unanswered points to run out victors.
