FORMER UFC FIGHTER Cathal Pendred has been a busy man of late.
Back in July, he opened a Blanchardstown branch of the successful health food franchise Chopped and he’s concentrating on his business career for now.
Or so we thought.
On Sunday night, the 28-year-old appeared in the latest episode of Ray Donovan, the US drama series starring Liev Schreiber (Ray) in the leading role and Jon Voight (Mickey) as his father.

Pendred played Joxy Maguire, an up-and-coming Irish boxer who’s been parachuted in to fight a high-profile bout after Hector Campos – one of Ray’s friends – gets controversially dropped.
But, Ray wanted Campos to be reinstated. So, that meant Pendred’s character had to be, ahem, forced to withdraw.
Ray called in his half-brother, Daryl, to do the dirty work.
After a brief chat (where Pendred got to paraphrase from The Commitments and deliver the immortal line, ‘The one and fucking only’), poor Joxy was left in a bit of a heap.
Pendred nailed it, though. And it was refreshing to hear a proper Irish accent in a Hollywood TV show.
