GOOD FOOTBALLERS, IT is often said, make the game look easy, and that was certainly true of Jeff Hendrick last night.
The Ireland international hit a 74th-minute winner, as a Burnley side that also included Robbie Brady and Stephen Ward beat Newcastle 1-0 to go seventh in the table, leaving them behind Liverpool on goal difference only.
The 25-year-old Dubliner, who also hit the winner in the Clarets’ 1-0 victory over Everton earlier this month and has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season, received praise on Sky Sports afterwards from Jamie Carragher, who was impressed with the calm manner in which Hendrick expertly controlled and converted Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s inch-perfect cross.

“The touch is absolutely brilliant, it’s flying across goal,” Gary Neville added of the game’s decisive moment.
“There’s a real top bit of quality in the finish and the composure is fantastic. He’s a good player, him.”
