Carlos Tevez set to become world's highest-paid footballer

Gus Poyet says only “some details” need to be hammered out before the Argentine’s move from Boca Juniors can be announced

SHANGHAI SHENHUA COACH Gus Poyet confirmed only small details need to be finalised before Carlos Tevez officially joins the club.

Tevez, 32, is expected to complete a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League (CSL) side after his spell at Boca Juniors.

Poyet, who took over at the club last month, said Tevez was close to joining.

“I’m still waiting for 100 per cent to get permission to talk to Carlos about what’s ahead,” he told La Red.

“I don’t want to be unfair to people. It seems that everything is done and missing some details to be announced.”

Shenhua finished fourth in the CSL during the 2016 season, 16 points behind champions Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao.

Tevez will reportedly become the highest-paid footballer in the world if the former Manchester City and Juventus forward completes his move.

He is 32 has had a good career with maybe a couple of years left, no player is going to say no to a reported 600k a week. At the end of the day it is a profession, and if you are offered crazy money for easier work wherever it may be then you would take it.

Tevez comes from complete poverty, as do most South Americans. To suggest they are all about money cause they accept huge pay deals is laughable. Most people take a better deal if offered. Why not?

12 hour flight from shanghai to Buens Aires. Not much different from Europe. He wasnt doing much for Boca anyway. Saw a lot of games he played in last year and he was more of a hindrance than a help to thise around him. Others often gave him the ball and didnt take responsibility for themselves. Lots of south americans because nearly all the top attackers are from there and they are used to living abroad.
