Women's football's best player channelled her inner Paul Scholes for this game-winning belter

Take a bow, Carli Lloyd.

HAVING PLAYED A key role in the USA’s success at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Carli Lloyd appears to have continued her good form at club level.

Earlier this month, Lloyd captained her country to a 5-2 win over Japan in the World Cup final, during which she scored a hat-trick inside the first 16 minutes of the game.

Playing for Houston Dash — for whom Ireland’s Stephanie Roche had a brief stint recently — last night, Lloyd rifled in a 30-yard winner in the 85th minute of a 3-2 victory against FC Kansas City.

It’s the seventh consecutive game in which the 33-year-old striker has found herself on the scoresheet. Carli Lloyd, we salute you.
