Careless whispers: England job talk will continue, says Wenger

Despite claims by Premier League managers that they have been prevented from discussing the issue, the Arsenal manager believes talk on the subject will not be stopped.

ARSENAL BOSS ARSENE Wenger believes that speculation over the vacant England position will continue.

Despite claims by Premier League managers that they have been prevented from discussing the issue, Wenger believes talk on the subject will not be stopped.

With Harry Redknapp repeatedly linked with the post since Fabio Capello’s departure, Tottenham urged the governing body to enforce the manager’s charter, which prevents public comment about opposition players and coaches.

Alex Ferguson and Steve Kean are both reported to have seen the reminder, however, Wenger insisted he was unaware of the request, and also that he did not believe it would put a halt to the rumours surrounding the Three Lions hot seat.

“I believe everybody is free to talk about the England job,” Wenger told reporters. In fact I spoke many times about it so I have done my sins.

“It is inevitable that if you have nobody in place, the press will be worried and ask questions about it,” he added.
