Coventry Blaze player Ben Olson was involved in a confrontation with a Devils fan at the end of an ill-tempered Challenge Cup match between the sides.
Fan-shot footage of the alleged incident appears to show an altercation which was subsequently broken up by players.
South Wales Police were called to the scene and investigated but after speaking to independent witnesses and reviewing footage, they confirmed that no further action will be taken.
“The Cardiff Devils Club has been in touch with the supporter involved to inform him of his ban. The individual has apologised for his actions and expressed disappointment and remorse.
“The club is currently conducting an investigation in association with all relevant parties involved, and will be putting in place additional measures to mitigate the risk of similar incidents occurring again in the future.”
A spokesperson for the Rapid Solicitors Elite League said that the league would conduct its own investigation into the allegations.
“As a League, we will be investigating the allegations made and will be working in conjunction with Cardiff, Coventry and the Cardiff Ice Rink,” Tony Smith said.
“Ice hockey is a family sport and it is important we uphold that good reputation.”
