Derry v Kilkenny, Donaghmore Ashbourne, 3.30pm, Cathal Egan

Kilkenny chalked up another important win last weekend against Clare and it would be hard to bet against them collecting the points against Derry this Saturday. The Oak Leaf county are in the first year of senior championship and Kilkenny’s experience should see them through.

Verdict: Kilkenny

Wexford v Galway, Wexford Park, 3.00pm, Ger O’Dowd, *Highlights on The Sunday Game

A key game between two sides who are well accustomed to one another. Galway need to get their campaign off to a good start, having lost their opening encounter. Wexford, hit the ground running with a win over Derry last weekend and, once again under the steward ship of JJ Doyle, and at home, they should prevail.

Verdict: Wexford

Cork v Dublin, Pairc Ui Rinn, 2.00pm, John Dolan

Cork powered past Dublin last season, and in front of a home crowd on Saturday, they should have enough to ease past the Blues. Denis Murphy’s charges need to bounce back after a lack-lustre display against Offaly and much will be expected from Louise O’Hara in defence to lead a young side. Jennifer O’Leary, Anna Geary and Orla Cotter are key for the Rebels.

Verdict: Cork

Offaly v Tipperary, Banagher, 2.30pm, Owen Elliott

A crunch tie that Tipperary need to win, following their first round defeat to Cork. Jill Horan in midfield, is a key player for a youthful Tipperary side. Elaine Dermody was unstoppable, in her side’s defeat of Dublin and Tipperary will need to keep a close eye on the Offaly’s markswoman.

Verdict: Tipperary
