The FAI have launched an auction for fans to bid on Richard Dunne’s famous, home-made number five jersey worn during Ireland’s scoreless draw in Moscow against Russia last month.

Dunne cut his face on a piece of metal grating on the running track around the pitch in the Luzhniki Stadium during his memorable man-of-the-match performance.
He was compelled to change his blood-stained shirt but when the ref objected to a player being on the pitch without a number on his back, goalkeeper coach, Alan Kelly scratch ‘five’ on Dunne’s jersey with a permanent marker.
With proceeds going to Barretstown and The National Children’s Hospital, Tallaght the ‘lowest unique bid’ auction is run through the FAI’s Facebook page.
The auction, which costs €5 to enter, will run until Thursday, 20 October, with the lucky winner being announced the following day.
