ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. For those of you who have access to BT and have seen Rugby Tonight, you will know that Matt Dawson, Ben Kay and Austin Healey love some good old-fashioned banter just as much as the rugby itself.
When they aren’t breaking down different facets of the game with live demonstrations, which are informative and interesting, the lads are making some cringe-inducing attempts at humour.

The gist is – Austin Healey is really short and hated by everyone, Ben Kay and Martin Bayfield are lumbering giants and all forwards are numbskulls. Now, they seem to have graduated to skits.
Whatever you think about Sky’s rugby coverage, at least they keep the #bantz to a minimum and allow Stuart Barnes’ man-love for Tom Croft serve as the comedic value.
The pity is that Ben Kay is a good pundit but when he is paired with Healey it descends into the above, like a star pupil sitting with the biggest messer in the class.
Rugby Tonight has some promising elements but the lads seem to think that since it is filmed in front of a live audience they all have to be stand-up comedians.
Banter used to be a word used to describe a fun time, now… well, it is usually used either by people like Malky Mackay or the lads on Rugby Tonight.
I’m sure Healey and co. would use the Richard Keys defence for their style.
