Check out this brilliant short documentary on former LOI player Mark Rutherford

“McManaman’s a millionaire, Andy Cole’s a millionaire, I’m over here just paying my mortgage.”

A SHORT DOCUMENTARY looking at the career of former League of Ireland player Mark Rutherford has been produced as part of Football against Racism in Europe (FARE) week.

The 1895 Trust, the Supporters’ Trust for Shelbourne FC fans, are behind the film, which recounts Rutherford’s career playing with Shels, Birmingham and others.

The documentary, which was directed by Trust member Simon Crowe, features an interview with the former player, who discusses discrimination in football and why he still plays despite being in his 40s, among other topics.

The Trust is being supported by Show Racism the Red Card and the FAI, and also raised awareness of FARE week at last night’s game between Shelbourne and Drogheda United.
