“Tell the chopper to wait, we’ve got a legend to honour.”

THE IRISH DEFENCE FORCES have joined the masses of rugby fans paying tribute to Brian O’Driscoll before his final home game for Ireland.

Troops based in The Lebanon, serving with UNIFIL, formed up in the number 13 on a heli-pad in honour of the country’s greatest ever outside centre.

TheScore.ie will be covering ever last minute of Ireland’s crucial Six Nations clash with Italy as O’Driscoll bids farewell to Test rugby at Lansdowne Road. His final game will hopefully be a championship decider against France in Paris next weekend.

Ahead of today’s match, the gang at Inpho Sports captured this poignant image of O’Driscoll’s 13 jersey hanging in its dressing room spot beneath the West Stand.
