CORK CITY HAVE confirmed that they have accepted an offer from a club for their full-back Brian Lenihan, with the offer believed to be from Brighton.

Lenihan could join the Championship side who made the promotion playoffs last season but who are currently 17th after two defeats in their first three games.

“Cork City Football Club can confirm that the club has received an offer for our player, Brian Lenihan, which has been accepted. The club will not be making any further comment on the matter at this time, and the focus of our management and players is fully on Friday night’s FAI Ford Cup tie against Bohemians at Turner’s Cross.” the club said in a statement.

The highly-rated Lenihan has drawn comparisons to Seamus Coleman and if he can get anywhere near that level he will have a fruitful career in England.

Cork City had not responded to a call at the time of publication.
