WORLD RUGBY CEO Brett Gosper is very active on Twitter, which is good because fans get to hear directly from the man who runs the game worldwide. But a tweet from Gosper earlier today has angered some people, mostly those from Wales.
As he watched the English cricket team get eliminated from the World Cup this morning, he sent this out.
Howell’s reaction piece said that people in the Welsh camp fear ‘his remarks could put undue pressure on referees and other match officials in fixtures involving England in the so-called group of death later this year’.
Gosper later tweeted that he merely meant the tournament would benefit from a good showing from the hosts.
Whoops!

Do you think Gosper was out of line or has his tweet been blown out of proportion?

Many in Wales took this to mean that Gosper was favouring the hosts over other teams in the group. Wales Online journalist Andy Howell, who made some less than complimentary remarks about Irish rugby recently, took up the crusade against Gosper immediately.
