Brendan Rodgers set to sign new Liverpool contract - reports

Northern Irishman set to sign improved and extended contract after leading Liverpool’s most successful Premier League season.

LIVERPOOL ARE SET to seal their first big signing of the summer — manager Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers has agreed a new four-year contract with the Reds, the Guardian reports, and could put pen to paper as early as this week.

Anfield bosses have moved to secure Rodgers’ future after he led the club to its most successful season in Premier League history and the brink of their first title in 24 years.

Liverpool are currently a point clear with one game to play but Manchester City’s game in hand — they host Aston Villa tonight — and superior goal difference makes them the overwhelming favourites to clinch the league for the second time in three seasons.

Rodgers signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth when he joined Liverpool in 2012 but owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are not willing to risk losing the 41-year-old to another English or European suitor.
