BRENDAN RODGERS MAY be targeting a return to the Premier League in future, but the manager has no interest in leaving Celtic to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
Wenger is set to leave the Emirates Stadium after 22 years in charge and speculation surrounding his successor is growing.
Ex-Liverpool boss Rodgers is one of those the Gunners are said to be interested in hiring to succeed their long-term coach.
However, having just won his second Scottish Premiership title with Celtic after a 5-0 home win over Rangers on Sunday, the Northern Irish manager says he is completely happy in Glasgow.
โI woke up here on a Monday morning as the manager of Celtic, and Iโm in the best job in the world,โ he told Talksport. โBelieve it or not the sky is blue here in Glasgow, I absolutely love it here.
โIโve got huge respect for Arsenal as a club. When I started my coaching career Arsene was just coming into the club and I learned so much in that period as a young coach watching him, so itโs a club Iโve got huge respect for.
โBut Iโm so happy here at Celtic. Iโm in a job I love, itโs a huge club with big expectancy and big pressure.
โI would love to work in the Premier League again one day, but Iโm hopefully going to be coaching for another 20-odd years.
โThe board has been so supportive of me here and, from the first day I walked in, the supporters have given me everything.
โI feel a loyalty to them to ensure we keep moving the club forward and keep progressing.โ
After winning three trophies with Celtic last season, Rodgers can make it a back-to-back treble when they take on Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final on May 19.

Nearly all jobs in the Premier League these days are a nightmare. Lose a few games and youโre nearly out the door.. Anyway heโll be at Celtic for ten in a row, not other manager in Celticโs history has ever achieved it..
@David Garland: agree. Go to England where he will get little time to change things before he is looking at the sack. At Celtic he has total control. From the first team down to the youth set up , Rodgers has changed everything and is laying foundations at the club for years to come.
He wonโt get that at Arsenal. Their fans also donโt seem to rate him and thatโs fine by me. They will employ someone else who will most likely be sacked within a year. Football in England is a farce.
@Ciaran Rice: yeah because arsenal have a history of not giving managers time and sacking them donโt they???
@Mel Roberts: should have known you would be all over my comment as usual.
This is not the Arsenal of the mid nineties. This is not the EPL if the mid nineties. Managers in England do not and will not be given time to properly build a side these days. Arsenal will be no different and if he doesnโt have a good start the fans will be on his back.
@Ciaran Rice: when did you get your seat on the arsenal board to know what the philosophy surrounding the new manager is going to be?
@Mel Roberts: Wengerโs predecessor, Bruce Rioch, got the sack after a year.
@Mel Roberts Whoever gets that Arsenal job will be gone within a year. Arsenal fans will be sorry they hounded Wenger out the door. Theyโll want immediate success and theyโll be lucky to get fourth which means whoever it is will be gone after one season..
@Mel Roberts: itโs an educated guess due to what is happening around the league in England. Arsenal can not afford to remain outside the top 4. The longer that goes on the harder it will be to crack it.
@David Garland: as an arsenal fan Iโd of preferred Wenger to see out the remainder of his contract. The players really let him down in my eyes with their performances.
Still think as arsenal fans we will give the new boss time, itโs not like united and moyes as united were champions when he joined. We know where we are at but i still think top 4 is a realistic target for the new boss as I think the squad has quality going forward to match most of the top sides. We just need to sort out the back and I believe an allegri or Simone are the kind of guys tondo that and the kind of guys we should be looking at, not a Brendan Rodgers. Celtic defence has been shocking at times this season both in Europe and domestically
Fair play to him. Its the easy call but the right call. He will be remembered forever at Celtic. His stock is as high as its ever been. People can hammer the league and their points are valid but by the sounds of it Rodgers is happy with life and thats the most important thing. If one is happy well then why change it.
He hasnโt a hope of getting gunners job
Eh he doesnโt want to go to arsenal! Arsenal wanted him not the other way around
@john reddy: paper talk,Arsenal didnโt want him, journalists sprouting shite
Easiest job in the world more like!
Who would want Arsenal job, surely any available top coach would want a big club, going for the league and getting champs league football, not just hoping to get maybe 6th with Europa League.
Heโs too good for Woolwich.
I donโt get why people donโt rate Rogers. Heโs teams play attractive football and he did an excellent job at Liverpool. I for one hopes he takes the Ireland job at some stage and joins the Dutch fella in our academies and start to produce technical footballers rather than athletes. Imagine we had players who felt comfortable on the ball alongside our fighting spirit.
