Brazilian keeper may be charged with attempted murder after brutal kung-fu kick

Police are interviewing witnesses and have expressed their desire the charge Gustavo to the full extent of the law.

YOUTH GOALKEEPER GUSTAVO, formerly of Brazilian club Sport Recife, is being investigated by police in connection with attempted murder.

Following his incredible attack on Elivelton of Vasco da Gama in a recent game in the state of Minas Gerais, video footage of the incident went viral and Gustavo was released from his club.

Now police have revealed that they intend to charge the stopper with attempted mureder, and have already spoken to several witnesses as part of their investigation, the Daily Mail reports. They also plan on interviewing the attacker himself and five of his former team-mates at Sport Recife.

Elivelton was initially thought to have suffered spinal injuries, but x-rays confirmed the damage was not as bad as initially feared. He later said: “I just hope he no longer has such an attitude on the field in the future, whatever team he is playing for.”

It looks unlikely that Gustavo will be representing any team in the future however, as even if he manages to evade the attempted murder chrarge, he is facing a lifetime ban from football.
