BRAZIL’S POSTER BOY made it three goals in as many Confederations Cup games as the hosts defeated Italy 4-2 this evening.

The striker, who has recently joined Barcelona, stepped up to curl home a free-kick on 55 minutes after substitute Dante had opened the scoring and Emanuele Giaccherini equalised.

Fred added two more for Brazil before the end but the Azzurri did pull one back in controversial circumstances.

Referee Ravshan Irmatov appeared to point to a spot for a foul on Mario Balotelli but then gave the goal when Giorgio Chiellini stroked into the bottom of the corner.

The win means Brazil are likely to avoid Spain, who play tomorrow, in the last four.
