Sanchez hits back for Chile after Luiz claims Brazil's opener

Home fans will not care a jot if the defender or Chile’s Gonzalo Jara got the final touch as their country have progressed.

BRAZIL GOT OFF to a flyer against Chile thanks to a set-piece goal that may require some Super Slow-Mo action to discover who got the final touch. Chile responded mid-way through the first-half and the second round clash ended 1-1. The tie was settled by a penalty shoot-out with the hosts edging it, 3-2, to advance.

Neymar whipped in a corner kick after 17 minutes and, following a flick on, the ball hurtled towards Chile’s Gonzalo Jara and David Luiz of Brazil. It looks, from initial replays, that Jara got the heavier touch but Luiz definitely played his part and will be claiming the goal, no doubt, post-match.

One for FIFA’s dubious goals panel? There were no doubts about the scorer of Chile’s equaliser as Alexis Sanchez pounced on a defensive error to slot home past Julio Cesar.
