BRANDEN GRACE WAS nearly celebrating a hole-in-one at the Scottish Open today — on a par four.
The South African struck the flag with his tee shot on the 306-yard third hole, leaving himself with an easy putt for an eagle two.

Grace can count himself a little bit fortunate though. If the flag hadn’t taken all of the pace out of his shot, it probably would have ended up in another parish.
Shane Lowry is the best of the Irish so far on day one at Castle Stuart. Lowry had seven birdies, including a run of four in five holes, as he shot six-under par 66 for a share of third place.
John Parry has the clubhouse lead on eight-under, a shot ahead of his fellow Englishman Simon Khan.
