FOLLOWING THE MASS brawl that marred the start of the Ulster Senior Football quarter-final with Cavan at the Athletic Grounds last Sunday, Armagh and Cavan were both hit with a €5,000 fine from the GAA.
However, it seems as if the Orchard County won’t have to reach into their reserves to pay the four figure fine as the bookmaking firm Boylesports have agreed to pay it.
Boylesports, owned by Armagh native John Boyle, said in a statement on the Armagh website this evening:
“The Armagh team have no longer the financial burden holding their Championship progress back and with thanks to John Boyle, Paul Grimley’s panel can now concentrate on a crack at winning a 15th Ulster Championship and a 2nd All-Ireland Football title.”

A spokesperson for the county board added:
“The Management Committee of Armagh GAA would like to thank John Boyle and Boylesports for helping us out of this financial predicament.”
