Full-time! A controlled performance from United as Mourinho gets his first win on the board. Thanks for joining us and remember we have live coverage of Arsenal against Liverpool here.

Full-time! And United lay down a marker and begin their season with a straight forward victory.

90 mins: Four minutes of added time. De Gea is forced into a fine save as Surman looks for a late consolation.

88 mins: Eric Bailly named man of the match by Alan Smith on Sky Sports and it’s difficult to argue with that choice. A very impressive debut.

84 mins: Another change for United as Martial comes off for Morgan Schneiderlin while Memphis replaces Rooney with a few minutes remaining.

82 mins: It has been a good afternoon for Mourinho’s men so far.

80 mins: It’s just gone a bit flat. Bournemouth are still chasing the game but United look comfortable at the moment — as Harry Arter stands over a free-kick 35 yards from goal.

But it’s a poor delivery and Bailly easily deals with it.

73 mins: United will just look to take the sting out of any Bournemouth comeback. Mourinho is making his first change, with Mata making way for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

68 mins: GOAL! And now the hosts have one back. Smith finds himself with the ball at his feet inside the area and he does brilliantly to cut inside and fire high past De Gea.

63 mins: GOAL! It’s Zlatan time! The Swedish striker gets in on the act with a low drive from range. Boruc, once again, left helpless as United surge into a 3-0 lead.

60 mins: You can’t say that wasn’t coming and United are pushing for a third. Martial is fouled just outside the area and Boruc is forced into a fine stop.

58 mins: GOAL! And now they’ve doubled that lead. Martial mishits his effort from Valencia’s cross but Rooney is on hand to nod it home past Boruc.

54 mins: United still lead through Juan Mata’s first-half strike.

51 mins: Bournemouth are very nearly the architects of their own downfall again. Martial latches onto a loose pass, Ibrahimovic feeds Rooney and the United captain goes down under the challenge of Andrew Surman.

The referee waved away the penalty appeals and he’s got that one spot on, with the contact between the pair minimal at best.

50 mins: SAVE! Rooney brushes the challenge of Steve Cook aside with minimal fuss but with only Boruc to beat, can’t apply the finish from the edge of the area.

48 mins: Bournemouth fans unhappy at the referee Andre Marriner for not penalising Bailly for a strong, and clumsy looking, challenge on King. Both players are back on their feet.

46 mins: Players back out and away we go again.

Half-time: It was a slow start from United but they just started to warm to the task as the half wore on. That said, there has been very little to write home about and you can’t exactly say they did much for the goal, which all stemmed from a Bournemouth error.

Half-time: And that’s that for the opening period at Dean Court, where Juan Mata’s goal separates the sides.

45 mins: Two minutes added on at the end of the first half.

43 mins: Who else was it going to be?

40 mins: GOAL! Juan Mata latches onto an under-hit back pass from Francis and then benefits from it rebounding back off the defender after Boruc had made the initial save.

An easy finish for the Spaniard, who scores the first goal of the Mourinho era and how sweet that will be for a player who was disposed of by the manager during his Chelsea days.

38 mins: One positive for Man United so far has been the performance of Eric Bailly. The Ivorian has showed great maturity and composure in the opening half of his Premier League career.

35 mins: Wayne Rooney has had the game’s only shot on target.

32 mins: A second corner in quick succession for United and not once, but twice, the delivery finds the grateful hands of Boruc. An underwhelming start to the Mourinho era so far.

28 mins: United are just beginning to go through the gears. Eddie Howe will be concerned at the ease in which the visitors are finding huge pockets of space between the lines. As of yet, Mourinho’s side have been unable to take advantage but they’re slowly warming to the task.

26 mins: We have our first attempt on target. Much better from United as Mata links with Rooney to create the opening for the latter but Rooney’s shot was straight at Boruc.

25 mins: Pretty uninspiring stuff at Dean Court. Martial charges into the area, but his effort is high and wide. United, to their credit, have controlled the opening exchanges relatively comfortably but have yet to do anything meaningful with the ball. Sound familiar?

23 mins: Juan Mata has found it difficult to get himself in the game.

22 mins: Neither ‘keeper has been called into action yet, which just about sums up the opening quarter of this game. Mourinho is prowling the touchline on the far side, looking rather frustrated at the minute.

20 mins: Apologies for the interruption in coverage, we’re experiencing some early-season difficulties. Everything appears to be in order now and the good news is you haven’t missed much.

Luke Shaw was very nearly caught out early on but Josh King couldn’t captailise on the defender’s slip. At the other end, Zlatan has been relatively quiet thus far.

5 mins: Cracking atmosphere inside Dean Court during these opening exchanges. Wayne Rooney appears to be operating just behind Martial and Ibrahimovic whilst Mata is playing out on this right-hand side.

1.30pm: Kick-off! United get us underway, playing from left to right as we look in this first half.

12.45pm:

And this is how the hosts will line-up. Ireland international Harry Arter starts with new signings Jordan Ibe and Lewis Cook both making their debuts.

12.35pm:

So the big news is that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will make his Premier League debut a week after scoring the winner in the Community Shield against Leicester City.

Eric Bailly, meanwhile, also makes his bow with Luke Shaw returning to the XI after his lengthy injury absence. In midfield, Fellaini, Herrera and Mata get the nod.

Summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan has to settle for a place on the bench, alongside Marcus Rashford. Paul Pogba is unavailable due to suspension after picking up two yellow cards in last season’s Coppa Italia whilst playing for Juventus.

12.30pm:
