Bouncer who leaked Tindall footage calls on England captain to be a witness

Jonathan Dixon has appeared in court in New Zealand over the leaking of a video which has caused all manner of problems for the rugby star and his team.

THE NIGHTCLUB BOUNCER who is alleged to have leaked footage of Mike Tindall on a night out with a mystery woman has appeared in court in New Zealand, calling on the England rugby captain to testify.

Jonathan Dixon faces charges of accessing a computer system for dishonest purposes after he leaked footage of Tindall, who is married to Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Zara Phillips, appearing to kiss and cuddle a woman outside a nightclub where the England team were enjoying a night out last week.

Dixon, 40, released the  footage on Friday but it has since been taken down from YouTube and he has been sacked from his job, the New Zealand Herald reports.

Appearing at Queenstown District Court today, Dixon called on Tindall to give evidence if his case goes to trial to “explain his actions that night” adding that: “Anyone who does this kind of thing when they’ve made wedding vows in front of God should be ashamed of themselves.”

BBC News reports that Dixon did not enter a plea and is due to appear before the court again on 3 October.

Phillips is due to arrive in New Zealand in the coming days to support her husband in the latter stages of the Rugby World Cup.

A spokesman for the 30-year-old has said the woman was an old friend of the couple’s, the Telegraph reports.

The spokesman added that “the whole thing has been blown out of proportion.”
