ANYONE TRAVELLING DOWN Trimbleston Avenue in Dublin’s Bootertown today will see the unusual sight of a Borussia Dortmund flag flying at full-mast outside the German Embassy.

Jurgen Klopp’s BVB take on Bundesliga title winners Bayern Munich in the first ever all-German Champions League final at Wembley on May 25.

German ambassador Eckhard Lübkemeier hasn’t “nailed his colours to the mast”, however, and both teams’ flags will be raised on match day.

A spokesperson told TheScore.ie: “It was a trial in preparation for the final. On the day, the both flags will be hoisted.

“We wanted to show that the Germans have a certain sense of humour.”
