Michael Owen: playing football, but thinking about beautiful horses. Joe Giddens/EMPICS Sport

Boring Michael Owen is being bullied, also boring

After going public with his intention to complete a 1000-piece equine portrait jigsaw, the United striker found himself the object of some ridicule.

MICHAEL OWEN MAY excel at scoring goals against second-tier teams in largely unimportant games for Manchester United, but horses are his first love.

Caring for them; training them; racing them; stroking their long, flowing manes; completing 1000-piece jigsaws of them: you name it, he loves it.

Unfortunately, his teammates don’t quite share his enthusiasm.

After Owen tweeted his intention to complete a giant equine portrait puzzle, branding it “the biggest challenge of my life,” the striker returned to United’s Carrington Training Centre to find his locker defaced. He then tweeted a picture of the offending message, possibly as a cry for help.
