BOHEMIANS AND WEXFORD Youths played out on an enthralling 3-3 draw tonight at Dalymount Park in the first ever league meeting between the sides.
Both sides were goal shy in their opening three games as they only hit the net once each but that was not the case in this encounter.
After a bright start from Wexford they seized the opportunity to take the lead on nine minutes after a misplaced pass from Lorcan Fitzgerald was pounced upon by Paul Murphy. The striker was brought down when by Bohs’ keeper Dean Delany as he raced through on goal.
Daniel Furlong calmly slotted the resulting spot-kick to the corner of the net sending Delany the wrong way.
The lead didn’t last long though as a cross from Kurtis Byrne on the Bohs left two minutes later was headed home by Mark Quigley from close range after he found himself free in the box.
Wexford continued to press despite concession of the equaliser and their pressure on the Gypsies’ backline told as a throw in from Craig McCabe was latched onto by Chris Kenny.

After a lapse at the back from Bohs, the midfielder stole in at the front post to head the men from the south east back in front on 20 minutes.
A few moments later Kurtis Byrne missed a glaring opportunity after he found space behind the defence but shot past the right hand post when he really should have scored.
On the stroke of half-time it was all level though as a neat take down by Paddy Kavanagh on the edge of the Youths box saw him settle himself on the ball before being allowed to shoot from about 20 yards into the bottom right corner of Graham Doyle’s goal.
Shane Keegan’s Youths were on the back foot early in the second period as Aymen Ben Mohammad showed his skill down the Bohs left with his neat footwork almost setting up Kurtis Byrne on a couple of occasions only for the striker to be caught offside both times.
But Wexford were coming back into the game as Danny Ledwith curled a free kick just wide of the post on the after his introduction just past the hour mark.
They then looked to have secured the win after a mix up in the Bohs defence allowed Gary Delaney to head into an empty net after Delany failed to deal with an innocuous cross into the box.
But the drama didn’t end there as two minutes from time Ledwith clumsily kicked Roberto Lopes in the box. Quigley just about slotted past Doyle who got his hand to the ball before it trickled over the line going in off the post as both sides had to settle for a draw.
