BOHEMIANS OVERCAME LONGFORD TOWN for the second time this season thanks to first-half strikes from Keith Buckley and Aymen Ben Mohammed at Dalymount Park.
Bohs made four changes and switched to a 4-5-1 system after last week’s loss to Galway and it paid dividends just before half time.
One of those changes was Keith Buckley and the 23 year-old striker got on the end of a Ben Mohamed pass to grab the opener before the winger scored himself moments later.
But before the Gypsies took control, the best chance of the opening quarter fell to Longford as Peter McGlynn cut in from the right and crossed for David O’Sullivan who, after dodging a couple of challenges, saw his shot cleared off the line by Derek Prendergast. The rebound fell to McGlynn who couldn’t find the target.

Both sides nearly found the net on 36 minutes as a poor back pass from Bohs’ defender Dan Byrne allowed Josh O’Hanlon the chance, but he and O’Sullivan got in each other’s way and Town failed to take the opportunity that was gifted to them.
Then, on the counter-attack, Buckley was found by the threatening Ismahil Akinade before the ball broke for Paddy Kavanagh. He appeared to have an open goal to shoot at but his effort struck the post.

Ben Mohamed attacked with purpose down the left side before threading a wonderful through ball into the inside left channel for Keith Buckley, who delicately slotted over Paul Skinner to give the hosts the lead.
Bohs’ second followed just a few minutes later as Ben Mohamed showed athleticism to finish.
Derek Pender swung in a wonderful cross to the back post where the midfielder was on hand to stretch out his left foot and score against his old club.
He and his team picked up where they left off in the second period as the 21-year-old’s trickery and probing caused all sorts of problems for the Longford rearguard.
They nearly notched a third on 57 minutes as Buckley and Akinade combined to find Ben Mohamed who just couldn’t reach the cross at the back post.

Kavanagh almost squeezed a speculative effort past Skinner on the hour mark before Tony Cousins’ men came equally close at the other end as McGlynn’s effort struck the foot of the post.
The men from the Midlands couldn’t find a way back into the game in the final minutes as Bohs put in a solid defensive performance to secure the win and their second clean sheet of season.
