Boateng: No excuses for Germany lapses

The Bayern Munich defender believes age cannot be an excuse for Joachim Low’s side’s recent slump following their disappointing draw against Ireland.

JEROME BOATENG ADMITS there are no excuses for the lapses in concentration that again saw Germany drop points in Euro 2016 qualification.

The World Cup winners lost 2-0 to Poland in Saturday before allowing Ireland to snatch a point with the last kick of the game last night.

The Bayern Munich defender understands that his side have had to blood a number of young players but insists that they cannot afford any more slip-ups.

“We blame it on ourselves,” he told Bild. ”If you lose the ball that close to full-time and concede a goal, you’re practically begging for it to happen.

“We must clear the ball. It’s just so cheap to concede a goal. This is a young team but also the youngest have played in the Champions League. This shouldn’t happen to us easily.”
