WALES CAPTAIN MATTHEW Rees is looking less and less likely to play a part in next month’s World Cup, with a back problem failing to clear up.
The hooker had injections last week to cure a nerve problem but it still has not cleared up, leaving him in pain and in probable need of an operation.
Rees will be looking on from the stands as Gavin Henson returns to the fold against England at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, and is highly unlikely to figure in his country’s final warm-up game against Argentina next week.
Wales coach Warren Gatland has even said that Rees has less than a 70% chance of making the trip to New Zealand, telling The Guardian, “Matthew is still in a lot of pain. He might need an operation sooner rather than later and we will have to sit down and discuss things with him.”
