Blackburn boss Steve Kean in YouTube rant at Sam Allardyce

The manager at the relegated Lancashire club meets the owners this week, and will have some explaining to do.

FOOTAGE OF BLACKBURN ROVERS manager Steve Kean slagging off predecessor Sam Allardyce and claiming credit for the discovery of Phil Jones emerged on YouTube last night.

The Scot was filmed in a nightclub conversation with fans while on Rovers’ pre-season tour of the Far East last summer, before the start of a season in which the Lancashire club was relegated from the Premier League.

Kean, who meets owners Venky’s this week at their Pune base, claimed that Rovers would finish in the top 10 in the season just finished, and that they would win the Carling Cup.

Venky’s have so far stood by Kean, in the face of a series of fan protests against his management of the team. The man himself has remained resolute that he will not stand down as boss.

Kean said last Wednesday: “I am not going anywhere and neither are the owners. I’ve spoken at great length with them because the objective is to sit down and build a squad that will help us get straight back up. They are obviously disappointed, but agree we must now look forward.

“I am here for the long-term. These are challenging times for the club and the owners, but I believe Venky’s are 100 per cent the right owners.”
