Stirring scenes at Anfield as fans pay 100th birthday tribute to Bill Shankly

Liverpool and Manchester United supporters paid their respects to the former Reds manager before their match kicked off.

LIVERPOOL AND MANCHESTER United are currently doing battle in their Premier League clash at Anfield but both sets of supporters put tribal rivalries to one side to pay tribute to former Reds boss Bill Shankly.

Today’s game falls a day before what would have been the legendary Scot’s 100th birthday. Liverpool were eager to celebrate the landmark date at the closest home game to Shankly’s birthday and their fans got fully behind the idea with a show of passion and pageantry.

Shankly led Liverpool  to three league titles, two FA Cups and a UEFA Cup trophy. He passed away on 29 September 1981.
