THIS SUNDAY, DUBLIN pub The Back Page in Phibsborough is hosting a very special Italia ’90 Day.
They did one last year too – and it’s just a full day of Italia ’90 themed activities in the bar itself. But this year they’ve done something a little extra special:
They’ve created a wonderful Bill O’Herlihy mural on their side wall
They unveiled it on their Facebook page last night, saying:
Ahead of our annual Italia 90 Day event this Sunday, the Euros this summer and just in general one of Irish sports all-time true heroes, we present our tribute to the legend… Mr Bill O’Herlihy.
Shouts to Omin and Póg Mo Goal for working with us on this.
Lovely work by graffiti artist @ominous_omin.
On Tuesday, they showed us the beginnings of it
And then how it was progressing as the week went on
Excellent work, and a fitting tribute to the great broadcaster <3

Nice touch.
It’s a lovely tribute to a sports broadcasting legend. He oversaw so many pivotal moments down through the years and people took him to their hearts with his witty 1 liners and football insight .. some people just thrive on being sad & narky scoffing at others thoughtfulness ..get a life
Does any other nation persist in harking back to the past to find tiny crumbs of success to cling onto and ‘celebrate’ as we do?
Flex I suppose your including the Easter Raising in that too yea
