AS JOSH HAMILTON watched his fourth-inning hit sail into the stands on Wednesday evening, he made hundreds of Texas consumers very happy indeed.

At the end of August, local businessman Steve Fitzgerald offered free flooring, carpet and countertops to anyone who bought from CC Carpet & Floor Design if Hamilton managed to hit a grand slam before the end of the season.
Speaking to the Star Telegram, Fitzgerald said that the payout would be in the region of $500,000 but that there was no fear of him going bust as he’d taken out insurance on the giveaway.
“I’m excited. I’m great,” he told the paper. “I wish he could have waited until the last game of the season so more people could have gotten it.”
And Hamilton, a regular customer at the store by all accounts, was equally pleased that customers would be cashing in.
