Was this the best Liverpool-United game ever?

Ahead of Sunday’s clash between the two sides, we look back on one of the classics

SUNDAY’S GAME BETWEEN Liverpool and United has a lot to live up to if it is to match the sides’ classic 1994 encounter for entertainment value.

United appeared to have the game wrapped up by half-time, with goals from Steve Bruce, Ryan Giggs and Dennis Irwin giving them a 3-0 advantage.

However, a double from Nigel Clough and a dramatic late header from Neil Ruddock (who was clearly in some pain amid the celebrations) ensured the shares were spoiled.

Let’s hope Van Persie, Gerrard et al can serve up something similarly spectacular this weekend.
