On-loan Besiktas goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Besiktas want Karius on permanent deal despite 'nonsense' speculation

The Liverpool goalkeeper has had a mixed start to his loan spell but the club’s president is a fan.

BESIKTAS PRESIDENT FIKRET Orman says the club want to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius on a permanent deal.

The German, 25, has had an inconsistent start to life with the Turkish side after signing a two-year loan agreement.

He was made surplus to requirements at Anfield following a series of blunders, and reports have suggested he could even be sent back to Merseyside after a mixed start in the Süper Lig.

But Besiktas chief Orman has brushed off that claim — and insists they want to sign up Karius for good.

“Karius is an excellent keeper. God willing we will sign him on a permanent transfer,” he told Besiktas’s club channel BJK TV .

“These stories are complete nonsense. Give Karius some time is all I’m saying. Karius has a lot of work to do but give him time.”

Karius’ agent Florian Goll recently rubbished reports his client’s time in Turkey could be cut short, saying: ”Loris is on loan to Besiktas for two years — that’s the situation. The club has no intention of ending this loan contract prematurely.”

The former Mainz man, who cost Liverpool £4.7 million in the summer of 2016, has conceded 14 goals in 11 domestic and Europa League appearances this season, keeping just clean sheet.

His demise at Anfield, where he has been replaced by Alisson Becker, a £65m signing from Roma, came following his two costly errors in May’s Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

You’d think he’d have more on his mind with the state his Monaco side is at the moment.

This is the reason Ronaldo has won his last 3, people have started conflating team success with the best player in the world. They should be kept separate, your reward for team success is your medal and a trophy for the team.

@William Boland: Your right to a point but look at Real now. Maybe he won those awards because he made his team so successful. At the moment that’s looks to be the case

@MarkSul: I wouldn’t say that. They could win the CL, and still can this year, because they had a good team, but their league form shows that the squad was not that good, similar to last year’s Liverpool squad.

@MarkSul: ya I was thinking that maybe because Ronaldo is so demanding of everybody (i.e moany) around him that the Madrid players raised their games while he was around. Then naturally when hes gone they’ve all subconsciously eased off a little. That on top of losing a guaranteed 30+ goals a season would explain their recent slump
